The gameplay will largely follow the vanilla DayZ experience, enhanced with custom content by the Lights Out team for a unique and engaging event.
Custom Loot Table - The Lights Out team has changed the loot tiers to encourage movement through the map. Participants all know Chernarus very well and because of this, they think that it will be nice to have a custom spawn pool so players will have to forget about their usual known loot routes and search in places that they usually don't.
Custom Areas - The Lights Out team has worked hard in improving the map, which now includes more military zones and larger areas than before. Participants will receive some hints before the start but will have to search for these areas on the map.
Custom Airdrops - Airdrops in DayZ servers are common, however, the team has made a change to them. These airdrops are heavily fortified, and the only way to open them is to find a key hidden within the zombies' bodies.
Custom Food Skins - All of the food remains the same but the team has changed some of their designs to have references to some of the players and friends, as well as to commemorate some of the best moments in Light’s Out 1 and 14 Days.
Radio - Initially, Bohemia Interactive planned to expand the radio system for the event but couldn't do it. The team also tried but faced the same issues. Therefore, the Discord Voice Channels will be used as the "radio" but participants must also speak in-game, ensuring a more immersive and fair experience.
Teams - Lights Out 2 is a trio event, although participants can play alone or in a duo. The final winners will be the last three standing, regardless of whether they are on the same team or not.
Day 1 is PVE-focused, except in Military Zones where PVP is allowed. Check the map for PVP area locations. This day is designed for participants to socialize and have fun. Players intent on strategizing can use the initial hours to secure safe spots for their goods and weapons.
The real action starts on Day 2. The experience will resemble a normal DayZ server, but with special events in custom areas for those seeking a challenge and the chance to acquire valuable loot.
Reports indicate a mysterious phenomenon occurring underground. Analysis by a team of scientists revealed a deadly gas, potentially ready for release at any moment. A helicopter evacuation is planned, but due to fuel scarcity ten years post-virus outbreak, only three participants can be extracted. Once the lights go out, no respawning is allowed.
NOTICE: The event experienced technical difficulties on day 1 and was launched anew on day 2 with a modified server and server configuration.
Permadeath begins at 4:00PM UTC on December 16. See below for full details of the final phases of day 3Updated: 2023-12-16 1:15PM UTC

For viewers, it's important to strike a balance in chat interactions to preserve the integrity of the event. Please refrain from sharing real-time information or specifics about the current locations and plans of players, as this could unfairly influence the event's outcome or spoil the viewing experience for someone who only wants to see the event through Sour's eyes.
Comments such as 'Player1 is in this town' fall into this category and should be avoided. However, discussing past events, such as 'That was Player2 you just killed' is probably fine, but it will vary from chat to chat. This approach ensures that the excitement and engagement in the stream are maintained without impacting the players' strategic decisions and viewer experiences.
Remember to always be respectful to everyone in chat and respect the rules established by Sour and the mod team.
